Mark Nixon Jewellery Consulting was founded in 1995, with the purpose of filling a gap in the jewellery industry by providing Adelaide’s first independent jewellery appraisal service with a walk-in service direct to the public.
Since then, we have serviced both the jewellery trade and retail customers with independent jewellery appraisals, gemmological laboratory services, gemstone grading services and general jewellery advice.
In 2008, our name was changed to Gem Logic Pty Ltd, however we still incorporate our founder and directors name Mark Nixon, due to his impeccable reputation in the industry and his ongoing involvement with the company.
We are truly independent and have no ties or affiliations to any other company. This enables us to offer honest & unbiased advice and can issue you with accurate & professional jewellery appraisals.
All of our appraisers are registered and qualified with the National Council of Jewellery Valuers (NCJV) who are the premier professional valuation body in the jewellery industry. All NCJV appraisers operate under a strict code of ethics which governs all conduct and professionalism.
Our company founder and director, Mark Nixon, has worked in the jewellery trade since 1976. He has vast amounts of experience in all aspects of jewellery including retail, manufacturing, production, valuations, appraisal training and insurance.
In 1981, Mark was one of the founding members of the Council of Jewellery Appraisers (name later changed to NCJV – SA branch upon joining the inaugural national jewellery valuer’s peak body).
Mark obtained his Registered Appraiser status in 1982 and has guided the company since its inception and continues on as the lead jewellery appraiser. In 2003 Mark was awarded Honorary Life Membership with the NCJV for his outstanding service and contribution.
While many companies offer jewellery appraisals, some may undertake to do the appraisals themselves, without having the qualifications of being a gemmologist and or a NCJV registered appraiser.
These companies may be excellent jewellery retailers or manufacturers, but without having the expertise in gemmology and jewellery appraisals, their valuations may be bias or not fit for purpose.
This may well cause significant problems with insurance during a loss & claims process. Our advice is to only ever rely on an experienced independent NCJV qualified jewellery valuer for your important appraisals & insurance needs.
